My Bio:  Rachael Barrett has more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, working with domestic and international organizations, in the areas of health and mental health, healthcare delivery, community development, legal services, criminal justice, and advocacy. Throughout her career, she has been committed to working with entrepreneurial organizations focused on systemic change through education and advocacy. Rachael has worked as a fundraising consultant, and been engaged with a number of nonprofits in New York, Connecticut, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.  Her core expertise is in the development and execution of strategies to increase revenues from institutional donors (foundations, corporations, and government). She compliments her core expertise and adds value to any project through prospect research, proposal writing, case statements, business plans, event and conference management, and project management.

Professional: Rachael is a member of the American Association of Grant Professionals, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Women in Development-New York, American Prospect Research Association, American Public Health Association, and the American Evaluation Association. She is an experienced facilitator and presenter.

Environmental / Conservation: Bird Caribbean: Facilitated annual board retreats Woodford Cedar Run, Medford, NJ: Provide proposal research and writing to support operations of a small wildlife preserve and education program. Green Jobs Training Center, Queens, NY: Technical and proposal writing assistance in response to New York State, DHCD Request for Proposals for Weatherization Assistance Program Training and Technical Services.

Health Related: State of Maryland, Behavioral Health Administration: Technical and proposal writing support on response to Federal Request for Proposal for the Technical Assistance grants to states for Traumatic Brain Injury. Weston United: Support on proposal writing for supportive housing expansion and Medicaid Redesign State of Maryland, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services: Technical assistance provided for preparation of HRSA-proposal for employment services for persons with mental health issues. Yale New Haven Hospital: Secured a multi-year, $3 million HRSA grant. Secured State grants for HIV counseling, testing and referral, secured funding for pediatric dental clinic. Brooklyn Hospital Center: Secured Nurse Family Partnership grant from City of New York. Matheny Medical Center of New Jersey: Providing research and proposal writing for a $10 million capital campaign. Interlude, Danbury, CT: Providing project specific to fund supportive housing programs for individuals with mental illness.

Social Impact: NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center: Wrote business plan for the start up of the Center, currently in operation in San Francisco, CA.
